Rapper, YCee has clarified that he has no plans to trademark or commercially profit from the now-viral phrase “Olodo Uprising,” stating that he did not create the expression
The phrase has dominated conversations across Nigeria’s entertainment industry in recent weeks after YCee used it while criticising what he described as the growing celebration of anti-intellectualism, referencing content creators such as Peller.

Since then, “Olodo Uprising” has become one of the country’s most talked-about catchphrases.
Addressing the buzz on X, the rapper explained that the phrase had already been circulating on the platform long before he popularised it.
He tweeted:
“Also, I didn’t coin the phrase ‘olodo uprising’; it’s been circulating on Twitter since last year.
“No, I’m not going to ‘trademark’ the phrase.
“No, I’m not going to ‘make a song’ about the phrase.
“No, I will not be making ‘merch’ centered around the phrase.”
