For Sabrina Idukpaye, love matters, but so does financial compatibility. The former Big Brother Naija 10/10 housemate says she can’t see herself marrying a man who earns less than she does because, from what she has experienced, relationships like that can come with challenges that aren’t always easy to overcome.
Speaking on The LOO Podcast, Sabrina explained that her opinion isn’t just something she came up with. It’s shaped by what she has seen and experienced, and that’s why earning power will be one of the things she considers when choosing a life partner.
She said:
“I believe in love and it can trump all situations but I can’t marry a man who earns less than me. I found out that sometimes, it’s difficult for a man to be in a sustainable relationship with someone who earns far more than them.
It is normally not the healthiest of relationships, having experienced it. So, I definitely will not marry a poorer man unless we fell in love before we found out about it.”
