Daniel Regha has criticized Burna Boy over the outfit he wore during his World Cup performance, saying the singer missed a chance to proudly showcase his Nigerian roots on a global stage.
According to Regha, Burna Boy could have embraced a look inspired by traditional Nigerian fabrics instead of his chosen outfit.
He wrote, “Burna couldn’t even use the opportunity to showcase his Nigerian-African heritage by styling in a proper fabric inspired outfit. Fela would’ve represented.”
His comment points to the belief that international stages like the World Cup offer Nigerian artists an opportunity to celebrate the country’s culture through fashion as much as through music.
