MC Fish and his new partner have responded to the controversy surrounding his ongoing divorce from actress Anita Joseph, insisting that his earlier comments were misunderstood.
After facing criticism over a statement in which he said he wanted to “erase” his estranged wife from his life, MC Fish explained that his words were never intended as a thr.eat. According to him, he was simply referring to bringing their marriage to a legal end so both parties could move on.
In a statement shared online, he said:
“For the record, there were never any threats. The statement ‘erase you completely from my life’ referred to bringing this chapter to a legal close through divorce, not to any form of harm. We have repeatedly requested a copy of the marriage certificate so the legal process can move forward. The phone number provided on the cease-and-desist letter does not exist. We also do not understand why we should incur ₦100,000–₦200,000 in additional costs to obtain a document that already exists and is in the possession of one of the parties. If the intention is truly to move on, providing the document would allow the legal process to proceed. Our focus remains on resolving this matter through the proper legal process, not on social media.”
The clarification comes shortly after MC Fish accused Anita Joseph of delaying the divorce process by allegedly withholding the Certified True Copy (CTC) of their marriage certificate.
He had stated that without the document, it has been difficult to complete the legal process and finally close that chapter of his life.
