A commercial bus driver, Ifeanyi Okwuaja, has been arrested after allegedly causing a fa.tal crash that claimed the life of a passenger during a trip from Onitsha to Lagos
Okwuaja, an employee of Abia City Mass Transit, was said to have had a heated argument with the passenger seated beside him earlier in the journey.
Witnesses alleged that the disagreement escalated, with the driver reportedly threatening the passenger.
According to reports, the driver later encountered a stationary truck and allegedly veered the bus into the side where the passenger was seated. The impact reportedly k!lled the man on the spot, while several other passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries.
Following the incident, Okwuaja allegedly fled the crash scene and returned to his hometown in Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State.
Police officers, working with the transport company, later tracked him down and arrested him. Authorities are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
