Arsenal have completed the signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães after reaching an agreement worth £75 million for the Brazilian midfielder
The deal moves the transfer a step closer to completion, with the 28-year-old reportedly cleared to travel for his medical before officially joining the Gunners.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal and Newcastle have settled on a £75 million transfer fee, while Guimarães has been granted permission to undergo his medical.
Since joining Newcastle from Lyon in January 2022, Guimarães has developed into one of the club’s most important players. His performances earned him the captain’s armband, and he played a key role in Newcastle’s return to European football and emergence as one of the Premier League’s top teams.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been looking to reinforce his midfield ahead of the new season, with Guimarães viewed as a player capable of controlling games, winning possession and contributing in attack.
The move also hands Newcastle a significant financial boost, with the club set to receive a sizeable fee for one of its most influential stars.
The transfer is expected to be finalised after Guimarães successfully completes his medical and agrees personal terms with Arsenal.
