Pastor criticises Tonto Dikeh’s new prayer ministry

Pastor Andrew Emajere of COGA Ministries has criticised Tonto Dikeh’s decision to begin a prayer ministry in Abuja, arguing that Christian ministry should not be entered into without adequate spiritual preparation.

Emajere raised concerns about the growing number of people taking up leadership roles in churches and ministries, saying he was particularly uncomfortable with Dikeh’s emergence as a ministry leader.

While speaking to his congregation, he said:

“What does Tonto Dikeh know in the spiritual world that convinced her to open a prayer ministry? She built a church worth of 300 million, how did we arrive here?”

The pastor also called for tighter regulations around the establishment of churches, saying there should be a process for determining who is qualified to lead one.

“If I become president, before you can open a church you must pass through screening. Christianity has now turned into something else”, he stated.

Emajere said the development of Christian ministry in Nigeria had reached a point where, in his view, the faith was no longer being treated with the seriousness it deserves.

“Have you seen a woman open mosque and call herself a female Imam or Alfa? People don’t take Christianity serious in this country.

“Which day did she repent in Pastor Jerry Eze’s church that she is already a General Overseer? How did we arrive here?”, he stated.

The pastor maintained that becoming a ministry leader requires more than simply deciding to start a church or prayer centre. He argued that people need proper preparation before being given such responsibilities.

“A woman that has not handled her kitchen duties finish, you went ahead to put them in Christianity, why won’t confusion come in?”,  he added.
