Actress Mo Bimpe has addressed criticism following comments about being excluded from baby showers, children’s birthday parties, and other child-related gatherings because she does not have a child
In a statement on Tuesday, Bimpe shared a post on her Instagram page in response to the backlash.
The new mother of triplets said she chose to speak about her personal experience so no one else would narrate it for her.
Bimpe wrote, “As we step into a new month, I want to say: Everyone is entitled to tell their story. When I shared mine, I didn’t do it so anyone can explain my experience for me. I lived it.
“One thing I’ve learned is that kindness should never be assumed on behalf of someone else. It hurts to hear what women are going through; my DMs are full.
“Please, let’s do better. Invite people. Call them. Include them. Then allow them to decide what they can and cannot handle. We don’t always know what someone is carrying, but we can always choose compassion, inclusion, and thoughtfulness.
“This new month, may we stop deciding what people can handle and start giving them the dignity of choice.
“And for anyone walking through a difficult season, I hope you never have to question whether you belong in the room.”
