Femi Dapson said he went from working closely with Pastor Oyedepo at Living Faith Church, where he wore suits and ties and met presidents, to taking up a cleaning job after moving to Lagos.
Speaking in a conversation with Chude Jideonwo, Dapson said he left the comfortable life he had built at the church because he felt he was becoming too settled.
According to him, starting over in Lagos meant taking whatever work was available, and that led him to a cleaning job before he eventually found an opportunity in the media industry.
Dapson said he later became a junior editor despite not having a university degree, while other people who applied for the same position were degree holders with stronger academic qualifications.
For him, getting the job came down to more than certificates. He said he knew how to convince an interviewer that he could deliver and contribute to the growth of the organisation.
He said:
“I quit my job at Winners church, where I worked closely with Pastor Oyedepo, wore suits and ties, and met presidents. I felt too comfortable, so I moved to Lagos and started working as a cleaner. Eventually, I became a junior editor without a degree even when they were qualified degree holders who were more qualified but i know how to make mouth.I sold myself to the interviewer and what and what i will do to bring growths”.
