Peter Obi has explained how he would approach Sallah celebrations if he becomes president, saying he would use the occasion to connect with people in the northern part of the country.

Speaking during an interview, the 2027 presidential candidate said he would prefer to spend Sallah in Sokoto with the Sultan or in Kano, rather than remain in Lagos.

He made the point while discussing the need for a president to be physically present in different parts of the country and engage with people from different backgrounds.

“President Tinubu, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah in Lagos State. If I become the President, I will spend my Sallah in Sokoto State with the Sultan or in Kano State, so we discuss and bring everybody together, and we discuss the future.”

Obi believes such visits would be more than simply observing the religious celebration. He said they would provide an opportunity for discussions about the country and how its different communities can work together.
