Actor Daniel Etim Effiong has defended his kissing scenes in movies, questioning why some people see such scenes as automatically wrong simply because of the act involved.
The actor made the point by comparing his work as an actor to that of a gynaecologist, whose profession requires examining women’s reproductive organs.
During a conversation, a question was raised about his kissing scenes, and he said:
“Would you ask this same question to a gynaecologist? Do you know who a gynaecologist is? Of course, a guy is a doctor, a medical doctor that saves lives and works with women and looks at the female gen!tals every day,” he said.
He believes what matters is not necessarily what an action looks like from the outside, but the intention and character of the person carrying it out.
“There’s a condition of a man’s heart that judges what he does, that qualifies what he does, that makes it good or evil. It’s not what you see from the outside; it’s what the man is, the condition of his heart,” he added.
The actor’s argument is that a scene performed as part of a professional role should not automatically be judged in the same way as an act carried out for personal reasons.
