Nollywood producer Mr. Martins Onyebuchi Onyemobi has described what it is like working with veteran actor Osuofia, saying the actor gives his best when he is properly guided on a movie set.
According to Onyemobi, Osuofia has plenty to say once he gets comfortable with a script, so the director or producer has to keep him focused on the job.
In an interview, he said:
“If you give osuofia a movie script, all you need to do is control him. when you control him, you will get the best out of him. but if you allow him, he will talk from now till tomorrow. once he agrees to do the job, he will give you everything he has. if the movie is supposed to be part 1 and part 2, osuofia will end up giving you part 1 all the way to part 7.”
For Onyemobi, that ability to give everything to a role is part of what makes Osuofia such an interesting actor to work with. The challenge, he explained, is making sure all that energy stays within the direction of the story.
Once Osuofia commits to a project, though, Onyemobi says there is no holding back. The actor puts his full energy into the work, sometimes taking the story much further than originally planned.
