Omoyele Sowore has questioned who is currently in charge of Nigeria, following President Bola Tinubu’s extended stay abroad and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s trip to the United States for the United Nations General Assembly.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week working vacation but the Presidency announced on September 21 that he had extended his stay by a few days and would return at the weekend.
Sowore alleged that Shettima had also travelled to New York to represent Nigeria at the United Nations General Assembly.
It was against this situation that Sowore raised questions about the absence of both the President and Vice President from the country.
In a post he shared, Sowore wrote:
“Tinubu has been away for more than 21 days, allegedly on vacation. The VP Kashim Shettima has also left Nigeria for UNGA, with no handover notes in sight. Who is in charge of Nigeria at the moment?”.
