A newlywed couple, Rev. Abiodun David and his wife, Funmilayo Bamidele, have been a.bducted alongside four other persons after gvnmen intercepted their vehicle along the Iyemero–Eruku road, near the Kwara-Kogi-Ekiti border
The victims were reportedly returning from their traditional engagement ceremony in Eruku, Kwara State, on Saturday evening, September 26, 2026.
According to reports, the vehicle was initially expected to travel through the Isanlu route, but the driver reportedly diverted through a back road to drop off the best man and other passengers at Iyamoye in Kogi State.
The vehicle was subsequently intercepted by armed assailants along the Iyemero–Eruku axis.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, confirmed the abdvction and said soldiers and other security operatives had commenced a search operation to locate the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The vehicle conveying the victims was later recovered at an abandoned police station in Ayetoro, Ekiti State. Police operatives across Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states are reportedly coordinating the rescue operation.
