‘Toluwanisings had 50-60% chance of survival with good governance – Doctor Zo

Canada-based Nigerian doctor Zo has questioned Nigeria’s healthcare system following the de.ath of gospel singer Toluwanisings, saying better access to emergency equipment could have improved his chances of survival.

Zo called on the government to provide Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across the country, explaining that the devices can help save people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

The doctor questioned why funds spent on campaign buses could not be used to purchase life-saving equipment for hospitals and public spaces.

An AED checks a person’s heart rhythm and can deliver an electric shock when necessary. However, whether it could have saved Toluwanisings’ life cannot be determined without details of his medical condition and the circumstances surrounding his collapse.

Zo also urged Nigerians to consider how they vote in the next election, linking good governance to access to essential healthcare services.

In a post, he said:

“I think there is a 50–60% chance that Toluwanisings would still be alive today if he were in a country with good governance. With this Automated External Defibrillator (AED) I’m holding here, I have brought several people back to life. Each device costs over $2,000. Can our government use the money spent on campaign buses to purchase these devices and distribute them across the country? If you people like, continue selling your votes next year.”
