Nollywood actor Uche Odoputa will hold a funeral for his father, Mr Kenneth Odoputa, even though the family has no body to bury.
His father travelled to the South-East in May 2022 to visit an old friend. During the trip, both men were abducted by armed men, leaving their families worried and without any information about their whereabouts for weeks.
The k!dnappers later contacted the families and demanded a ransom. The money was paid in the hope that both men would be released, but the family received heartbreaking news that Kenneth had died.
The loss has been particularly difficult for the family, especially his wife, who has had to live with the pain of losing her husband without having his body returned.
Now, after more than three years, the family has decided to give Kenneth a proper farewell with an empty casket. Although they have no remains to lay to rest, they still want to celebrate his life and give their loved one the honour he deserves.
Explaining the decision in a post, Uche said,
“May Nigeria never happen to you.
“We have no body to lay to rest, but we have his life to remember, his dignity to honour, our love to express.”
