
A retired judge who presided over one of France’s most infamous unsolved murders has been found dead in an apparent suicide .
Jean-Michel Lambert, 65, was found by emergency services with his head in a plastic bag at his home near Le Mans late on Tuesday.
“There was no trace of violence and no trace of a break-in,” said the Le Mans prosecutor in a statement.
The suspected suicide is a new twist in the case that has haunted the country for three decades.
