Organisers Of Enrique Iglesias Concert In Sri Lanka Should Be ‘Whipped With Toxic Stingray Tails’ Says President

Oh dear! The president of Sri
Lanka has called for the organisers of an Enrique Iglesias concert to be
‘whipped with toxic stingray tails’ over the behaviour of female fans.
    Ecstatic Enrique fans had
reportedly climbed onto the stage to hug and kiss the singer during the concert
    in Colombo on December 20.
In addition, a number of women
had also thrown underwear at the 40-year-old Latino crooner during his
performance in the Sri Lankan capital.
    The latter in particular appalled
the nation’s president, who called for the origanisers to be punished for fans’
    behaviour.

    President Maithripala Sirisena
has said that although he does not wish to subject the fans to
    retrobutiont, the organisers should pay.
    ‘This is most uncivilised
behaviour that goes against our culture,’ President Sirisena told a public
meeting in the eastern district of Ampara.
    ‘I don’t advocate that these
uncivilised women who removed their brassieres should be beaten with toxic
stingray tails, but those who organised such an event should be,’ he added.

Whipping with the tails of stingrays
was reserved for hardened criminals in medieval Sri Lanka and is used as a
popular idiom for extreme punishment of wrongdoing.
