A police officer attached to Ugbodo Police Division in
Ebonyi Local Government Area, Ebonyi State has been arrested for allegedly
defiling a 3-year-old girl, who happens to be his neighbour’ daughter. The
incident was said to have happened when the victim’s parents were not around.

When the Police officer was confronted, he begged for forgiveness
and offered her parents N50,000, but they refused the money and reported him at
a Family Law Centre. It was at that point that the matter was reported to the
command which prompted his arrest.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the
Command, Mr. George Okafor, the family of the victim has been contacted for
first hand information on the incident, while a medical test conducted on the
victim has shown that she was raped. He promised that the case will be properly
investigated and the suspect punished if found guilty.
