
It was indeed a tragic end for a 78-year-old man, identified
by police as Hassan Chiroma, when he slit his own throat at the city abattoir,
Kano, yesterday. The incident which sent shock waves across city dwellers, had
set tongues wagging over what could have led the septuagenarian to take his
life.

An eyewitness said the man was earlier sighted at blacksmith

The eyewitness said: “We mistook him as one of the numerous
butchers plying their trade, but we were shocked soon as he turned the same
knife against himself.”

But the police are suspecting foul play and has arrested four
persons in connection with the tragic incident.
