The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, has directed an investigation into the alleged assault of a Nigerian citizen following an argument involving a senior Army officer and two soldiers, which was captured in a viral video

According to Vanguard, this was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu.
“The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to a viral audio-visual recording circulating on social media platforms, purportedly showing a senior Army officer and two other soldiers in an altercation with a man and a woman within the Abuja metropolis,” the statement read.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident remain unclear at this time. However, the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has ordered an immediate investigation to determine the facts behind the incident.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to serving and protecting all law-abiding Nigerians, as stipulated in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The public is therefore assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, and appropriate actions will be taken,” the statement concluded.
