Stephanie Promise, the wife of Nollywood actor Chinedu “Aki” Ikedieze has come forward to report an alleged financial scam in Lagos. She said that she was defrauded while trying to withdraw money using a POS (Point of Sale) device.
According to her account, she approached a woman on the Island to make a withdrawal. However, instead of receiving the amount she requested, the POS debited her ten times the intended sum. After the transaction, the woman disappeared and has not been reachable.
She went to her bank, First Bank, for assistance. Unfortunately, the bank told her there was nothing that could be done because the POS device used does not have a traceable account number, making it impossible to recover the funds.
“She took my money,” she said, expressing her frustration and warning others to be cautious when using POS services, especially with unfamiliar operators.
