Comedian Brain Jotter responded to concerns about his recent use of Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song, “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,” in a viral dancing challenge.
The challenge, which gained popularity on social media, sparked discussions about copyright and financial gain.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Brain Jotter addressed the issue, emphasizing that he has not profited financially from the viral challenge. He acknowledged the importance of giving credit and compensation to Ejeagha, who originally composed the tune over 40 years ago.

“I understand your concerns, and they are very valid,” Brain Jotter stated. “I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good.”
Brain Jotter also shared a video of his visit to the 93-year-old music legend, reaffirming that no revenue was generated from the song through his platforms. He explained the mechanics of content monetization on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, emphasizing that all revenues generated from the challenge are directed to Mike Ejeagha’s record label and production company.

“On YouTube, if I post that video, they strike it for copyright and give the revenue to the actual owner, which is Mike Ejeagha,” he clarified. “The same applies to Facebook and other platforms—they ensure that the revenue goes to the rightful owner.”
The challenge significantly boosted the song’s streams on various music platforms, despite Brain Jotter’s inability to directly upload it. “So everything, all revenues, are going straight to Mike Ejeagha,” he concluded.
Brain Jotter’s statement aimed to reassure fans and critics alike about the integrity of his use of Ejeagha’s song, highlighting his commitment to supporting the original artist.
