Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, has confirmed he will still redeem his $500,000 pledge to the Super Eagles despite the team missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations title
Rabiu made this known on Thursday via a post on his official Instagram page, where he commended the national team for their grit, commitment and fighting spirit throughout the tournament.

He said the players gave everything on the pitch and deserved recognition, even though the campaign did not end with lifting the trophy.
“You fought with your hearts, gave your all, and showed true courage and determination on the pitch. Though it wasn’t meant to be this time, you have made every Nigerian proud.”
The billionaire industrialist noted that results do not always reflect effort, stressing that the passion, unity and determination displayed by the team were more important than the final outcome.
“Sometimes, even our best efforts don’t bring the outcome we hope for, but the spirit, passion and unity you displayed are what truly matter. You left everything on the field, and that is worthy of celebration.”
As a gesture of appreciation, Rabiu said the $500,000 reward earlier promised to the team would still be paid, describing it as acknowledgment of their hard work, discipline and the excitement they gave Nigerians during the competition.
He had announced the pledge before the tournament as part of efforts to motivate the Super Eagles in their push for continental success.
Nigeria’s campaign ended at the semi-final stage after a dramatic clash with host nation Morocco. The match finished goalless after regulation time before the Super Eagles lost 4–2 on penalties at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Rabiu urged the players to remain confident, adding that the experience gained from the tournament would serve as a foundation for greater achievements in future competitions.
