In a strong condemnation of the ongoing violence in Nigeria, President Donald Trump has declared the country as a “Country of Particular Concern,” citing what he called an “existential threat” to Christianity
In a statement released on Truth Social on Friday, Trump accused radical Islamist groups of carrying out widespread killings of Christians across Nigeria, describing the situation as a humanitarian and religious crisis that demands urgent global attention.

He said the United States must not remain silent while such atrocities continue, noting that thousands of Christians have been killed this year alone.
“Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria. Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter. I am hereby making Nigeria a ‘Country of Particular Concern’ — but that is the least of it,” Trump stated.
He urged Congressman Riley Moore, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, and other lawmakers to investigate the crisis and report back immediately.
“When Christians, or any such group, are slaughtered as is happening in Nigeria, something must be done,” he added. “The United States cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening in Nigeria and other countries. We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world.”
