Astronomer has appointed Pete DeJoy as its interim CEO following the resignation of former chief executive Andy Byron, who stepped down after a viral video controversy
The video, which gained widespread attention, showed Byron sharing an intimate moment with the company’s head of HR, Kristin Cabot, during a Coldplay concert — an incident that sparked internal and public scrutiny.
DeJoy, a co-founder of Astronomer, has played a key role in the company’s development since its launch in 2017. He has served in multiple leadership capacities, including Vice President of Product and most recently, Chief Product Officer, where he helped steer the company’s data orchestration strategy.
His appointment is part of a transitional phase, as Astronomer’s board begins the search for a permanent CEO.
