The Federal High Court in Abuja has declined to grant an interim order sought by former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, to halt the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s planned national convention
Lamido, through his lawyer, Jeph Njikonye (SAN), had asked the court to restrain the PDP from going ahead with the convention pending the determination of a motion on notice he filed alongside the ex parte application.

However, in a ruling on Friday, Justice Peter Lifu refused to issue the restraining order and instead directed the PDP and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) — listed as first and second defendants in the suit — to appear before the court and show cause why Lamido’s request should be granted.
According to court documents, the case was filed under suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/2299/2025, with Lamido as the sole plaintiff.
