Musician Seyi Sodimu has shared his thoughts on the contrasting influence of Davido and Burna Boy, stressing that while both are global stars, their impact plays out in very different ways
Appearing on the podcast What I Know, Sodimu described Burna Boy as an artist who has mastered the stage through sheer musical strength and performance. He noted that Burna Boy’s dominance is rooted in artistry and live delivery rather than influence outside music.
“Burna Boy has conquered the stage. And he is good.”
However, Sodimu argued that Davido’s reach stretches far beyond entertainment, positioning him as a figure with massive social and political influence. According to him, Davido’s popularity cuts across music, people, and power structures.
“Davido surpasses music.”
To underline his point, Sodimu suggested that Davido could easily transition into politics and succeed purely on influence and public support.
“What do I mean by that? If Davido ran for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy could win as a governor.”
This perspective mirrors an earlier statement by Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, who previously predicted that Davido could one day become governor of Osun State.
