John Griffiths, a disabled grandfather, was forced to trek 16 miles home alone in the dead of night after being discharged from Worcestershire Royal Hospital following surgery.
Despite arriving in an ambulance, he claims he received no assistance in getting home. Griffiths, 60, discharged at 3 am on Monday, April 29, had no means for a taxi or a ride back to his Evesham home.
Expressing his distress, Griffiths recounts being only advised to “be careful” by hospital staff when he mentioned his predicament. Eventually, he managed to obtain train fare from his daughter, embarking on a two-mile walk to the nearest station in Worcester city centre.
Enduring over an hour’s wait outside the station, Griffiths boarded a train to Evesham at 5:15 am, reflecting on the ordeal with a mix of frustration and reliance on his faith for strength.
