Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has been taken into custody by the Department of State Services (DSS), shortly after leaving Kuje Prison where he had completed his bail conditions.
According to reports, the former AGF is now facing a fresh investigation by the secret police. Operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reportedly discovered firearms at his residence in Kebbi during a recent search.

Malami had previously raised concerns about a possible plot by the DSS to re-arrest him while he was still at Kuje Prison. A Federal High Court had on Wednesday granted bail to Malami, his wife, and son in the sum of ₦500 million each, with two sureties.
In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Mohammed Bello Doka, Malami claimed that the DSS had been conducting surveillance at the correctional facility in preparation for his re-arrest. Despite meeting all his bail conditions, the former minister was reportedly taken into custody by the secret police.
