Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has publicly thanked President Bola Tinubu, describing him as “our father,” for ordering his reinstatement
He also extended his appreciation to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Senate President Godswill Akpabio for their efforts in resolving the political crisis in the state.
Six months ago, President Tinubu had suspended Fubara and imposed emergency rule in Rivers State, halting both the executive and legislative functions to prevent an escalating political conflict. On Thursday, following the expiration of the suspension, the President directed Fubara’s return to office, and on Friday, the governor resumed his duties in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
In a statewide broadcast, Fubara said:
“Once again, I thank and appreciate our Father, Mr President, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his timely intervention and commitment to restoring peace and stability in our State.
“I also thank our Leader, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for ensuring a prompt resolution to the political impasse.
“My profound gratitude goes to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen; and all members of the National Assembly for their roles in resolving this matter.
“I equally thank the Speaker and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, respected elders, stakeholders, and citizens who worked together to restore peace and harmony in our State.
“Finally, I call on all Rivers State citizens, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation, to unite in rebuilding our State and securing a future of dignity and progress for everyone. Above all, I give glory to Almighty God. Thank you all.”
