The 10th Assembly of the Agege Legislative Council, under the leadership of Hon. Adeshina Haruna, on Tuesday formally accepted the resignation of Hon. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco, from his position as Chairman of Agege Local Government, citing health reasons
Azeez explained that his health challenges had made it increasingly difficult to fulfill his official responsibilities. The councillors expressed appreciation for his service and wished him a full recovery.

After thorough deliberation, the Assembly unanimously confirmed Hon. AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa as the new substantive Chairman of Agege Local Government, describing the appointment as crucial for ensuring continuity, stability, and effective governance.
During the plenary session, lawmakers also reviewed the council’s committee structure and oversight roles, emphasizing the need to strengthen transparency, accountability, and project monitoring across the local government.
Reaffirming its commitment to development-oriented governance, the Assembly pledged to continue implementing people-focused initiatives under its renewed leadership structure.
Reacting to the development, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Agege, Rotimi Sulaiman, described the transition as a commendable and strategic step.
“Hon. Tunde Azeez has been ill for a while, and his decision to resign and focus on his health rather than allow the demands of office to weigh him down is a wise and selfless choice,” he said.
Sulaiman also lauded the new chairman, saying, “AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, who has effectively handled council affairs in Azeez’s absence, is a visionary young man with proven capacity. Agege is indeed fortunate to have both men.”
