Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu, in his hometown in Bagudu Local Government Area
According to reports, the assailants stormed Bagudu town late Friday, firing sporadically to sow panic among residents.
The Deputy Speaker was reportedly taken shortly after finishing prayers at the mosque and returning home.
Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, confirmed the abduction, saying that security agencies have been alerted and efforts are underway to secure Bagudu’s release.
Attempts to obtain additional information from the Kebbi State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
