Brooklyn Beckham has spoken out about his rift with his parents, Victoria and David Beckham, revealing that he has no intention of reconciling with them.
He claims his parents have been spreading falsehoods in the media and interfering in his marriage
Taking to Instagram on Monday, January 19, Brooklyn said he had tried to keep his personal matters private but felt compelled to respond after being left with “no choice.” He accused his parents of attempting to control his life and said he is now standing up for himself.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life. Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
Brooklyn also revealed that he struggled with severe anxiety while growing up, which he says has eased since moving out of his parents’ home.
The feud has also reportedly involved his younger brother, Cruz. In December, Cruz responded to a Daily Mail claim that Brooklyn had been unfollowed by their parents on social media, stating that the family had all been blocked accidentally. Brooklyn, however, maintains that his parents used Cruz to target him online.
“Sent to attack me on social media, before they ultimately blocked me out of nowhere this last summer,” Brooklyn said.
The BBC reached out to David and Victoria Beckham, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid footballer and ex-Spice Girl, for comment, but neither has responded to Brooklyn’s accusations.
