Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has responded to remarks made by his father, veteran actor Pete Edochie, regarding Yul’s marriage to his second wife, Judy Austin.
In a heartfelt statement, Yul Edochie defended his personal choices while expressing deep respect and love for his father.
He made it clear that although his father’s opinion is his own, it does not dictate Yul’s life decisions.
“I am a grown up and I don’t need anybody to make personal decisions in my life,” Yul said.
He went on to reaffirm his love for his father, saying:
“Pete Edochie is my father, I love him so much as my father, he can never get me angry. I can never be angry with him for whatsoever he says to me.”
Speaking about the strength of their bond, Yul added:
“I do whatsoever I want to do for him and I go away, I’m not moved by any word he said to me. I know he is not perfect but I love him.
Even if he ask me to kneel down at this my age, I will because he is someone I love and respect so much.”
Addressing his father’s earlier comment about not knowing he was married, Yul remarked:
“So, whatever he says, he is entitled to it. At this age, my problem cannot be what my father thinks about my personal decision, I should be able to do what is good for me without having to explain to anyone.”
He concluded with a message of resilience:
“Real men don’t explain or complain, you face it. So, why he said that is his business, how it makes me feel absolutely nothing.”
