In a statement signed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, the commission said, “Following deliberations, the Commission resolved to postpone the exercise until after the 2027 General Election.”

INEC explained that the revalidation exercise is important for maintaining a credible National Register of Voters, as it is aimed at verifying voter records, correcting personal details, removing duplicate or ineligible entries, and strengthening the overall integrity of the database.

The commission also noted that the exercise, when eventually conducted, will allow registered voters the opportunity to confirm and update their information.
