South Africa faces water crisis, water taps runs dry

2

South Africa’s largest city, is currently facing a water crisis, leaving thousands of residents without access to essential water services.

This situation has persisted for two weeks and has prompted residents to queue for water from tanker trucks as reservoirs dwindle and infrastructure collapses.

The water crisis in the city is due to the extreme weather conditions and the failure to maintain the water infrastructure over the last few decades. As a result, the water reservoirs have shrunk.

Residents across Johannesburg, including those in the township of Soweto, endure long queues for water, highlighting the severity of the shortage.

With the cost of bottled water prohibitively high for many, residents face immense stress as they struggle to meet basic needs like cooking, laundry, and hygiene.

As protests erupt and frustrations mount, residents face uncertainty about when their taps will flow again.
