A local government area in Kogi State has ordered a curfew as a response to the growing security concerns in the area. The curfew which is to run from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m, was implemented on Tuesday in the Omala local government in Kogi state
The announcement, made by the Chairman of Omala LGA, Edibo Peter Mark, also revealed that security agencies will double down on their entry points checks and patrols.
“All border routes must undergo strict stop-and-search operations with the Joint Task Force fully deployed,” he said.
The chairman also revealed that a restriction was being placed on religious activities in the area, adding that the council was also placing a ban on fireworks.
“All public gatherings, including Moulud, Christian vigils and similar programmes, are suspended until further notice. Sunday services and mosque prayers should be conducted quickly and closed on time,” he said.
