In an interview on Talk2dunnis TV, Lola revealed that her son’s sudden death remains one of the most challenging experiences she has ever faced.

“I lost my only son unexpectedly, and every time I see his friends, it brings back painful memories. I always cry. Though I am grateful for my daughters, losing my son was devastating,” she said.

Despite her grief, she finds solace in the fact that some of her daughters are now married and giving birth to male children. “God is wonderful. Life has its ups and downs, but I am grateful for everything,” she added.

Surprisingly, acting was never in her plans. She initially aspired to be a businesswoman and never imagined a future in Nollywood.

“My dream was to become a businesswoman. I loved doing business so much that if someone had told me I would become an actress, I wouldn’t have believed it,” she shared.

Her entry into the movie industry was orchestrated by her elder brother, the legendary filmmaker Ade Love.

“Whenever my brother, Ade Love, was filming, I would visit the set just to eat, chat, and leave. I never saw myself as an actress. But for some reason, he insisted I would become one. I argued, but his decision was final—everyone in the family respected him, even our mother,” she recounted.

Beyond her career and personal loss, Lola Idije also explained why she has remained single.

“Some men approach me just because I am popular. They think they can benefit from what I have, but I am not interested in dating anymore. My focus now is on my children and my grandchildren,” she stated.

Lola Idije is well known for her roles in films such as My Mum My Wife, Ija Oku Orun, Ija Inu, Aya Oba, and Baddie of Lay Lay 2.
