The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially summoned controversial singer Speed Darlington, also known as Darlington Okoye, over a viral video in which he allegedly confessed to having s3xual relations with a 15-year-old girl

In a formal letter issued by the agency, NAPTIP described the video and other resurfaced clips as deeply concerning, noting that they contain disturbing statements that may amount to criminal offences. The agency stated that if verified, these acts could violate provisions of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, as well as the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The letter reads in part:
“We write to formally invite you to appear before the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in respect of certain video materials recently circulated online, including but not limited to a particular Instagram video wherein you allegedly made statements admitting to having engaged in sexual acts with an underage girl. Additional archived videos, now in circulation, similarly contain admissions and degrading commentary concerning minors.”
Speed Darlington has been directed to appear in person for questioning at NAPTIP Headquarters, 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The agency advised him to come along with any legal representation or documents he deems relevant to the case.
NAPTIP emphasized that his cooperation is essential to ensuring a fair and transparent investigation, warning that failure to honor the invitation could lead to further legal action.
The invitation comes after the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) flagged the video but referred the case to NAPTIP due to location of incident.
