The Ogun State Executive Council has officially renamed the Sagamu–Iperu–Sapade Expressway as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Expressway in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun announced the renaming during President Tinubu’s visit to the state for the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport and other major projects last Saturday.

In addition, the council renamed the former Aviation Village in Iperu after the late Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, recognising his contributions to the community.

The council also approved the procurement of 50 electricity transformers under the ‘Light Up Ogun Project’ to enhance power supply across the state. To support public officials, it sanctioned the purchase of 20 Suzuki Grand Vitara and 12 Toyota Fortuner vehicles.

Other decisions focused on traditional leadership and community recognitions. The council approved the declaration of the Olu of Odeda stool in Odeda Local Government Area and ratified several appointments, including Prince Adeyemi Ibikunle Opeaye as Oludotun of Idotun in Ikenne, Chief Yaya Oriyomi as Olu of Mowe, and Bashorun Peter Oluwole Ogunbayo as Odemo of Ishara.

These measures underscore the Ogun State government’s commitment to infrastructure development, strengthened local governance, and the promotion of community leadership.
