It looks like fans of Pooh Shiesty shouldn’t expect new studio sessions from him anytime soon. A federal judge has ruled that the American rapper will remain in custody following his recent arrest.
In the court order, the judge explained that there are no bail conditions strong enough to guarantee public safety if Shiesty were released.
According to TMZ, the decision was based on the evidence prosecutors say they have, along with concerns about his past.
The judge also pointed to Shiesty’s criminal history including time he served after a conviction tied to a 2020 shootout — as well as what was described as a pattern involving violence and weapons.
As previously reported, Shiesty was arrested last week along with several alleged co-conspirators, one of whom is his father. Federal authorities claim the group carried out a kidnapping and robbery targeting Gucci Mane.
Investigators say the alleged motive was to help Shiesty get out of a recording contract with Gucci Mane’s label.
Shiesty’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, is pushing back on the accusations. He said the case may not be as solid as prosecutors suggest, stating:
“We’re going to examine the accuracy of the statements from alleged victims in the complaint and what those individuals allegedly told them.”
He also added, “I’m not sure those individuals said what is said in indictment.”
For now, though, the judge’s decision means the rapper will stay behind bars as the case moves forward.
