The hosts took the lead just three minutes after the break through Florian Wirtz, who headed in a delicate lofted pass from Joshua Kimmich, marking his 100th international appearance. Wirtz, currently linked with a £109 million move to Liverpool, seemed to have put Germany in control.

However, Portugal were furious that the goal stood, believing debutant Nick Woltemade had obstructed Ruben Dias in the buildup. Despite a VAR review, the referee allowed the goal to stand.

Portugal responded in the 63rd minute through substitute Francisco Conceição. The winger, who had only been on the pitch for five minutes, collected the ball near the right touchline, beat his marker, and curled a brilliant finish past Marc-André ter Stegen.

Just five minutes later, Portugal completed the turnaround. Nuno Mendes raced down the left and squared a low ball for Cristiano Ronaldo, who tapped in unmarked from close range.

Germany pushed for an equaliser and nearly forced extra time when Karim Adeyemi struck the post late on, but Portugal held firm to reach their second Nations League final. They will face either France or Spain, who meet in the other semi-final on Thursday in Stuttgart. The final takes place Sunday in Munich.
