A royal decorator hanged himself after criticism of his work by King Charles left him devastated, an inquest heard
Self-employed Chris Eadie, 63, was said to be a perfectionist who felt discarded by the King, despite having worked on his Sandringham estate for more than 30 years.
The decorator prided himself on in carrying out “top jobs” for the late Queen and later King Charles.
His brother, Mark, said Charles was unhappy with his painting of a pagoda — and the job was handed to another contractor.
Mark told Norfolk coroner’s court: “After all his work, the job was given to someone else.
“Chris was devastated.”
Mark added that his brother’s “perfectionism” meant he was frequently appointed for important work within the Royal household, including painting the bedroom of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
