Southern Governors and members of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council today convened in Ogun State to discuss regional security, governance, and development, concluding the meeting with a unified stance on key national and regional matters
In a joint communique, the leaders expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu, commending his efforts in stabilising the economy, improving governance, and driving major infrastructure projects across the country.

They also reaffirmed their long-standing support for a Southern presidency, stressing the region’s commitment to equity, balance, and national cohesion.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, shared on X: “We passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and restated our support for a Southern presidency. We reaffirmed our commitment to a safer and more united South, expressed our condolences on recent national security losses, and acknowledged the President’s efforts in stabilising the economy and advancing major infrastructure projects.”

Sanwo-Olu added that the forum agreed on strategic measures to enhance regional security, including establishing a zonal security fund, improving intelligence sharing, strengthening community security outfits, involving traditional rulers more formally in security management, and addressing illegal mining and land-related risks.
The leaders also extended condolences to families of security personnel and civilians who have lost their lives in recent attacks, emphasising that the safety and stability of the South remain a top priority.
