President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the coronation of Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland
His arrival drew thunderous cheers from dignitaries and citizens who had gathered to witness the grand ceremony, which serves as the highlight of a week-long celebration marking Ladoja’s ascension to the throne.

The event has attracted prominent figures from across the nation, reflecting its cultural and political significance as Ibadan continues the tradition of its revered monarchy.

Ladoja, an 81-year-old former governor of Oyo State and one-time senator, was chosen as the new Olubadan following the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7. A respected businessman and politician, Ladoja steadily rose through the traditional chieftaincy ranks before attaining the throne.

The Olubadan of Ibadanland is the foremost traditional ruler of Ibadan, one of West Africa’s largest cities, and the position remains a symbol of great cultural pride and historical continuity for the Yoruba people.
