President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the State House in Abuja
Governor Yusuf arrived at the State House shortly after 4 pm and was escorted to the President’s office by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.

The closed-door meeting comes amid widespread speculation about a potential defection by Governor Yusuf from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The purpose of the discussion, however, has not been officially disclosed.
Earlier, NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso denied approving or endorsing any defection plans by the Kano governor, insisting that no such consent had been given.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that any planned defection may have stalled over a disagreement regarding an automatic ticket for a second term. Observers note that the meeting with President Tinubu could be linked to these developments.
Further details from the meeting are expected to emerge in due course.
