President Bola Tinubu on Monday received the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, alongside other prominent traditional and religious figures at the Presidential Villa in Abuja
The gathering formed part of an interfaith iftar organised to bring together religious and traditional leaders during the fasting period.
During the meeting, Tinubu reiterated his administration’s determination to strengthen Nigeria’s economy and build a more stable nation for future generations.

The president stated that the economic reforms introduced by his government had prevented the country from sliding into bankruptcy, even though they initially brought hardship for many citizens.
He explained that with the economy now stabilising, his administration is turning attention toward key sectors that will drive national development, including agriculture, education and healthcare.
“At least, this government has saved Nigeria from going bankrupt. We are now shifting our focus to health, agriculture and education.”
The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, who was represented by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahya Abubakar, highlighted the significance of Muslims and Christians observing fasting around the same period.
He said the moment reflects the need for unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
The traditional ruler also expressed confidence that the Tinubu administration has the capacity to tackle insecurity affecting some parts of the country, while reaffirming his loyalty to the president.
