The gas plant explosion that happened yesterday in Nnewi,
Nnewi Local Government Area of Anambra State, has killed no fewer than hundred
(including some in their homes) people, wounded many, destroyed 60 cars and 50
motorcycles all together.

According to an eye witness, the fire which emanated from
Inter Corp Oil Limited (LPG Gas Plant), was caused by an explosion that
occurred when a truck was making an attempt to discharge its content without
waiting for the mandatory cooling time while customers were refilling at the
same time.

Others said some victims would have been rescued, but the
fire went up so fast making rescue efforts almost impossible. The Police have
confirmed the incident, and the Government have described it as unfortunate.
