The Delta State Police Command has intensified its operations against drug cartels following the de.ath of a 15-year-old boy, allegedly from an overdose of Dexamethasone
Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, identified the deceased as Gift Oberhirhi, who reportedly ingested 15 tablets of the drug without a prescription. The substance was said to have been given to him by his friend, Destiny Akpofure, also 15.
Edafe disclosed that the teenager fell ill shortly after taking the tablets and died while being rushed for medical attention.
He added that operatives from the Orogun Division responded promptly, evacuated the body to the General Hospital Mortuary in Orogun for autopsy, and arrested the suspect, who is currently in custody.
He stated that investigations are ongoing.
